Almost there...
The ranger station was cool, and reminded us a little of camping at home. There was a small hut with a kitchen and picnic table surrounded by fish net to keep the many, many, many chickens out (didn't work very well). There were also some dogs...two puppies that were so ragged we thought they were cute. Our sleeping arrangement was a row of hammocks under a wooden roof. We spent the afternoon playing cards...we collected twigs and nut shells to use as chips and taught some French girls how to play poker. We broke out the hacky sack for awhile. Although the days are hot, the nights get very cold. Trying to sleep in our hammocks, we froze our asses off! We got up in the morning frigid and stiff.
The second day of our trek was awesome. We set out early and explored a good section of the jungle with the help of our guide, the ranger, and two dogs. We were able to see some wild monkeys and stopped at a couple of nice waterfalls. At one point, Sared ran off from the group...he saw a small tiger attack a wild chicken! The tiger ran off with the chicken's head, but Sared came back to the group triumphant with the rest of the chicken. I guess because it was a fresh kill, he plucked and cut up the chicken for our dinner that night. We hiked for 9 hours that day, and were very thankful for our hammocks that night!

After a hike back out and lunch by the river, we returned to Ban Lung. On a recommendation from our guide, we stayed the remainder of our days at the Star Hotel. It's special because of the owner, Mr. Leng. We were told he will drink anyone under the table without getting drunk. Jas found out this is true!
